Christian Character Counts: Enthusiasm!

As we look into the future, we can envision the flames of enthusiasm igniting our hearts even more so, connecting love and embracing a world soon to be ablaze with compassion and kindness. Enthusiasm, at its core, will always be an expression of love. As Matthew 22:39-40 states, "To love God with all your heart, soul, and strength, and the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" When we approach life enthusiastically from God's perspective, we will soon embrace a more profound and genuine love for the experiences, pursuits, and people around us as good samaritans where Christian Character Counts.

Enthusiasm is a term used to describe the intense enjoyment, interest, or approval expressed by an individual or a group of people. It is characterized by eagerness, excitement, and passion for a specific activity, idea, or pursuit. Enthusiasm can be seen in many forms, such as a zeal for life or a high energy level and dedication towards an engagement. When individuals show enthusiasm, they exhibit an attitude like Christ's (Matthew 5:3-11), displaying a genuine excitement and passion for God and people. In contrast, when enthusiasm is absent, it can lead to feelings of apathy or obsessiveness, making life seem dim or overwelling.

When someone lacks enthusiasm, many problems can arise, such as a lack of motivation, weakened relationships, and missed opportunities. Without it, people struggle to find the drive to pursue their goals and dreams in life. The absence of excitement and joy can lead to a sense of purposelessness and a lack of direction. Enthusiasm has the power to uplift, inspire, and help others. Still, without it, individuals may struggle to connect with their human neighbors deeply and meaningfully (Lev 19:18). Interpersonal interactions become superficial, potentially straining relationships and hindering effective communication. Furthermore, enthusiasm often opens up new opportunities. When minimized or absent, people fail to seize the best opportunities, leading to stagnant living. It's essential to recognize the significance of enthusiasm and actively cultivate it to overcome challenges that come with disregard and fixation.

As a follower of Christ, it's crucial to maintain a passionate and joyful outlook on life. To do this, there are a few steps you can take. First, ensure that your attitude aligns with the humility of Christ (Matthew 5:3-11). This means consistently striving for growth and learning, exploring new topics, and acquiring new skills in the Lord. You can spark a sense of curiosity and enthusiasm by serving others by being the Good Samaritan in times of need (Luke 10:25-37). Additionally, embrace challenges with a positive mindset. View obstacles as opportunities to learn and grow (Matthew 4:17). By incorporating these simple practices into your daily life, you can cultivate and reignite your enthusiasm for life.

Today, realize it's time to infuse your life enthusiastically in God’s way. Take the first step of loving life God’s way and let enthusiasm guide you towards a loving and fulfilling life now and always where Christian Character Counts.

With enthusiasm,

~ Pastor Drake
