Meek people understand the hardest way is the fast way to happiness; therefore, “The meek shall inherit the earth.” Jesus, the Rock of Life, calls people and says, “Stop what you’re doing and ‘Follow me (Matthew 4:18-20).’” When faithfully followed, this direct command creates the trait of meekness in personality and destroys the bad ones of cowardliness and rage from a person’s soul to consistently achieve a good life where Christian Character Counts.
Let’s identify with Jesus. Once people see and face God, repent, and believe that a bigger exceptional picture exists in life, it’s necessary to humble oneself, come back to earth, and work in a secure way that brings good results, and so Jesus! Jesus is our model that brings about good and excellent living in the ever-present now. It’s the ever-present now why people need to believe in God and accept Jesus, the perfect example of human existence, to paint life according to God’s illustration of life, not society’s. When a person prays to God and wants a new life settled on Jesus, being born again is the after-effect now on earth.
The inviting invitation to believe in God and accept Jesus is always open; however, once a person agrees with the invitation, more is needed. Jesus tells us to follow and learn from him humbly and confidently to build character. It’s Jesus’ life we must continue to look at to fulfill the mission of life that inherits the earth. To inherit the earth demands meekness in our character, and the call of meekness is available to any Christian who desires such goodness in God’s design. The invitation is concrete; the question is, will you actually accept it?
Once the invitation of meekness is accepted, it must be integrated with daily interaction. To do this means understanding meekness is not a weakness or absents of life but the strength or expansion of life under God’s control. Meekness is like a boat's keel (fin) that keeps things steady and under control, especially in the most chaotic and challenging times. Like a sailor learning the basics of sailing, the Christian must do likewise with learning and navigating a new life with meekness; this is why Jesus said, “Blessed are those who mourn.” Daily love for learning and practice through the struggle and mourning of development is necessary to inherit God's blessings while on this earth fully. Even though it is tough up-front, it’s always worth it in the long run.
Jesus is the Rock, which is hard if you think about it. However, knowing this, also understand it’s also the fastest way to a great life. The challenge for most, myself included, is that we fail to do it right the first time and don’t get meekness into our soul, hence, doing it repeatedly. No doubt, meekness is challenging, but if we keep our eyes on the prize Jesus offers and apply and obey it through life’s demands, we won’t have to do it again. Decide right now to do it Jesus’s Way once and for all to enjoy the fasted way to a happy reality.
Until our next lesson on “Joyfulness.”
Cheers,
Pastor Drake
