Flexibility

Flexibility is a quality that is highly valued in many aspects of life, and it finds its ultimate expression in the Christian faith. The ability to adapt to changing circumstances, situations, and relationships while holding steadfast to one's beliefs is a hallmark of the Christian life. In Matthew 28:19, Jesus instructs his followers to "go and make disciples," which requires great flexibility and a willingness to adjust to new realities. To accomplish the Great Commission, Christians must be willing to follow all of Jesus' instructions, relying on God's power and nature to guide them and grow His kingdom here on earth where Christian Character Counts.

The idea of flexibility in the Christian life is grounded in the understanding that being open to change and embracing the unexpected is an essential aspect of our journey as followers of Christ. Just as Jesus sent his disciples to make disciples of all nations, we, too, are called to be adaptable in our possibilities and truth. However, this is not always easy, as it may require us to step out of our comfort zones, break down biological family and cultural barriers, and be willing to learn from others who may have different perspectives. In practical terms, flexibility may involve changing our schedules or routines to accommodate the needs of others, being willing to try new things or explore new ideas, and being open to feedback and constructive criticism.

In moments of uncertainty and change where problems exist, it is crucial to remember that our flexibility is grounded in unwavering faith. As we navigate the challenges of the Christian journey, we must trust in God's guidance. Flexibility is not about compromising our beliefs; rather, it is about being willing to adapt our methods while remaining steadfast in our commitment to Christ. By leaning on God's wisdom (divine nature) and strength (eternal power - truth), we can confidently navigate the world's complexities while staying true to our calling and the purpose of God.

When we embrace flexibility in our Christian character, we create space for God to work in and through us. Being open to new opportunities allows the Holy Spirit to lead us into meaningful relationships and impactful ministry. Flexibility enables us to meet people where they are, understand their unique needs and backgrounds, and ultimately lead them closer to Christ. As we embody flexibility, we become vessels of God's love and compassion, reflecting His character to a world greatly in need.

Flexibility is an admirable quality and an essential aspect of the Christian life. As we reflect on Christ’s last command to us, “the call to make disciples,” let us strive to cultivate an open, adaptable heart rooted in unwavering faith. May we embrace the challenges and opportunities that come our way, trusting in God's guidance and relying on His strength. Through flexibility, we can become effective instruments of God's grace and truth where Christian Character Counts!

With flexible understanding,

Pastor Drake
