Many Christians are familiar with the concept of transformational living, which involves discovering and being true to oneself through Christ Jesus. However, few are aware of the idea of transcendent living. This approach is focused on personal growth and striving to reach one's full potential as intended by God. Moreover, it emphasizes using that potential to benefit others and the surrounding community and beyond. When a person focuses only on the known aspect of transformational living and ignores the transcendent aspect, one only has a half-truth of God. It’s time to move away from half-hearted faith and step up to what is known as transcendent faith. Transcendent faith begins when a person accepts Jesus and "Just Believe."
Transcendent living involves moving beyond one's limitations in a relationship with God. It is a state of being that brings a sense of unity, purpose, and meaning that extends beyond individual existence. To achieve this, one must cultivate Christ-like qualities and explore them from a God perspective. Transcendent living brings a deeper sense of fulfillment and provides guidance in navigating life's challenges and complexities. Psalm 91:1 says, “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty" (NIV). This implies that our responsibility is to find refuge and rest in the presence of the “Most High,” indicating a sense of divine protection and peace through Christ, giving way to transcendent living.
When Christians focus exclusively on living a transformative life without seeking a connection with the transcendent, they may encounter various challenges that can manifest as depression, despair, and a feeling of spiritual emptiness. It is not surprising that suicide rates are increasing among Christians, as the lack of understanding and experience of the transcendent can result in a deficiency of grace and truth in their lives, leaving them burdened and enslaved by their own souls. When transcendent living is absent, people can easily lose self-control. In other words, as the proverb says, "Where there is no vision of God, people perish (Proverbs 28:19 [KJV])."
The teachings of Jesus and earnestly following them are essential to achieving a higher level of living. As a Christian, one must study His life and teachings in the Bible and make an effort to emulate Him in order to reach heights that are only experienced by a select few. This can be achieved by sharing your faith through both your words and actions and creating love a reality in your daily life, as outlined in Matthew Chapters 5-7, The Sermon on the Mount!
Moving forward, connect with a community of like-minded individuals who share your aspirations for a more fulfilling life. Consider joining a local church, perhaps Elevating Life Church, or engaging in small groups or Bible studies where you can nurture your faith and receive support from others on your spiritual journey. Together, you can rise above the mundane challenges of life and experience a more profound connection with God and those around you. Remember: all it takes to achieve this is to "Just Believe!"
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Drake
