What is the truth for Christians? Truth has everything to do with God's Kingdom and about remaking His world and rebuilding humanity's reality to a healthy, whole, and loving relationship with Him and each other. It's this focus a Christian ought to strive for objectively, subjectively, and normatively to understand the simple truth of God's complex existence. In other words, the belt of truth is God's purpose known as Love which is His reality, and it's this belt that must be worn by the faithful person of God to truly be called a skillful, trusted, and loving Christian.
A Christian's highest value or truth is loving relationships based on God's trustworthy design or principle. It's the truth of love that will make all things right. Hence the words of the Apostle John, "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free (John 8:32)." The problem is people tend to bend, distort, and twist the truth, God's Love, with one or more of the elements presented in The Belt of Truth Series. Rather than choosing the path toward God's Truth with all His truth elements, people tend to define it in their crookedness, defiling it with their selfish and exaggerated variations of true love to meet their own toxic and selfish desires, which locks them up in life.
Talk to your average Christian about truth, and they rarely link truth and love together, never realizing God's truth "is" love (1 John 4:6). If a person knows a bit about the connection, like an iceberg, their perspective is only understood on its surface, never realizing how deep it truly goes. The faithful follower of God must know and understand the belt of truth to swear their life by the truth they claim to live by. Understanding this is vital so the average Christian can live by the Truth of their Lord and Savior, Jesus (John 14:6).
Christians should be like the one who called himself the truth, Jesus. We are to seek the truth objectively with our eyes clearly open on the object of our faith, GOD. We are to get God's truth into "who we are," the subjects of God, subjectively. And, we are also to come together to agree with God's Love, His Truth, to live in the normative of the true faith that guarantees all live in the simple reality of God's complex Love.
With The Belt of Truth: Wrap-up, let me end where we began, Ephesians 6:14, where the Apostle Paul encourages us to "Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist." Putting on the belt of truth means trusting God and what He has done for you more than how you might feel at any given moment. God's Truth in us, not feelings, provides us with the confidence needed to fight the enemy. This first element of God's suit of armor gives the true warrior the ability to fight what's closest to their heart and allows us to put on the next piece of God's Armor known as the breastplate of righteousness.
With true love,
