After you have done everything… stand.
~ Ephesians 6:13 ~
On Christmas Eve, we pause—not because life is silent, but because God entered the noise. As we conclude our Strength and Unity mini-series, part of our yearlong walk through The Armor of God, it feels fitting that this final message reminds us of God's constant presence, which brings reassurance and comfort. A child… A manager… God with us. That is where true unity started for humanity, after the fall from the Garden of Grace—God’s place!
Over several seasons, we remain standing with God’s Armor, not because of the actions of a few, but because God has stood with us. This season has shown us that unity is not just sentimental; it is vital. Like Christmas, unity doesn’t eliminate hardship; it transforms how we face it with hope and resilience.
Over these weeks, through strength and unity, we’ve realized that God builds resilience by bringing people together. This sense of togetherness has been fostered through connection, which teaches us to genuinely see each other. Bonding has shown us to stay committed, even when it feels easier to disperse. Prayer has helped us rely on God collectively, not just perform for Him. Our sense of togetherness has helped us stand firm rather than drift apart. Gratitude has encouraged us to cherish the good moments, even when facing challenges.
Like shepherds who gathered at the manger, none of us arrived fully prepared. We just showed up, and God met us there. Now, here we are—still standing.
Many metaphors and stories surround Christmas, but one light unites all: the light that binds us together. During Christmas Eve services worldwide, candles are often lit. One flame passes to another until the entire room is illuminated. What’s moving about this is that no candle loses its light when sharing; instead, the room becomes brighter. This series, Strength and Unity, mirrors that concept. Connection sparks the beginning. Bonding allows the flame to pass. Prayer lifts the light upward. Togetherness entails remaining within the circle. Gratitude reveals that the light has always been a gift. This exemplifies how God strengthens His followers—not by shining a spotlight on individuals, but by illuminating a collective body.
The Armor of God, I believe, can be seen as “The Armor at Christmas.” Christmas reminds us that the Armor of God was never meant to be worn alone. Roman shields were designed to interlock; one shield by itself was vulnerable. Together, they formed an unbreakable wall. Paul understood this when he spoke of standing firm — not as isolated believers, but as a united people. The armor holds when the body holds, and that is what God has been shaping among us.
With this series reaching its conclusion on Christmas Eve, we celebrate — not because everything is flawless, but because God has remained faithful. We celebrate that unity withstood pressure without breaking. We celebrate that strength didn’t turn into pride. We celebrate that gratitude persisted when life became difficult. To everyone, but especially the church I serve (Elevating Life Church), this is what maturity looks like. This is what faith looks like, lived together. This is what Christmas still accomplishes — Emmanuel, God with us.
As we get ready to end this year and look back on all that God has accomplished in 2025, we don’t leave this series behind. Instead, we carry its lessons forward. This means carrying connection into conversations, bonding into conflicts, prayer into times of uncertainty, togetherness into division, and gratitude into every season. Unity isn’t just a topic we discuss once a year — it’s a practice we commit to daily. Together!
This Christmas Eve, as we reflect on the Light that entered the world... Stay strong. Shine bright. Suit up! Merry Christmas!
