Biblical Christianity is Truth concerning total reality, and for the following five devotions, we will focus on the light of that Truth or what is known as "The Belt of Truth." We experience the symbolic belt in the bible in the book of Ephesians: "Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, (6:14). It is the first element, out of six, in the arrangement of the Suit of Armor that guides us to the reality of God.
The symbolism of the belt means Christians need to live in reality or truth, and to buckle it around your life allows a person to live in total truth, not just in part. I say part because the sad fact is most Christians typically understand one aspect of truth and miss the whole of Truth which is no truth at all. The truth is God's reality rather than the scarce mindset many closed-minded Christians express today. The responsibility of all Christ-followers is to undercover the truth and live by its existence. 1 John 3:18 says, "Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth."
Today's Christian experience seems to be more about opinion than truth. It reminds me of the friends in the book of Job, where there is an immediate need for information and competition that drive the conversation. When experiencing the different friends in Job, all have an aspect of truth, but none connect the parts to see and face reality. A reality that doesn't happen until the end of the book, when God steps in and shows Job Total Truth. It's upsetting because all the friends miss the mark miserably, and Total Truth never gets into their existence. In other words, they never get it.
Truth be known, there are four elements or types of truth. We know this because there are four faces of Jesus expressed through the Gospels. Ever wonder why there are four Gospels? Now you know, each subjectively conveys a different part of the Truth. There are many directions we can go with uncovering the various aspects of Truth and the Gospels, but to keep things simple, rather than complex, and in the norm of the faith, we will stay focused on the four objective realities revealed in nature, history, and design. Those truths are objective, subjective, normative, and complex knowledge understood as The Belt of Truth and the first element of God's Armor in the book of Ephesians.
Throughout this discussion, we will consider each of these truths and their significance. By the end of the conversation, my hope is each will be able to see and face reality in a whole new way that allows a person to work in a Way that brings Good results no matter what. Results will give a person an ability to wear The Belt of Truth confidently and fight the Good fight where everyone benefits from attaining Lady Wisdom.
With Love for Wisdom,
