The armor of God is an essential truth in the Christain faith to understand and apply, and to put on the whole armor of God is to use all of the Gospel in all relationships in life, for this is the beginning stages of maturity! Understand that the whole armor expresses your complete trust in God and what he has done for you through Jesus Christ. Once God’s armor is understood and put on, it’s time to fulfill our mission of rescuing a “Lady in Distress” known as Lady Wisdom. We do so to accomplish the goal of gaining Divine Wisdom as we cultivate “The Fear of the LORD.” Cultivation allows us to reach God’s Potential in our marriage with Him to bring about His purpose, individually and collectively, in all of life.
A wrong understanding of the armor of God and not realizing why it’s necessary can lead to confusion of the Christian life. Please understand that a Christain's life is all about rescuing Lady Wisdom and getting her back in her rightful place. But who is this Lady, and is she worth salvaging to gain her in our lives? We see Wisdom in the first pages of the Bible (Genesis 1-3), where God’s Wisdom carved order out of chaos to create a space where life could be fulfilling, happy, and flourishing (This is what needs to be redeemed in life, after the Fall). As we continue to read, we reach the book of Proverbs, where we once again meet Wisdom, who is characterized as a woman, Lady Wisdom (Proverbs 8). It’s God the Husband (Isaiah 54:5 [ESV]) and Lady Wisdom that created all things “Good,” and both are still working, in reality, today to lead all to a “very good” life (Genesis 1:31) for his is the picture of wisdom.
Wisdom leads to Life and Joy! Today, Lady Wisdom is a picture of God’s infinite understanding and is a figure of speech to say that to be “wise” is to be in a trusting marriage with God and His people. Like Lady Wisdom says, those who find Jesus rescues the “Lady in Distress” to live an abundant life (John 10:10). A relationship only happens through Jesus, who, as God, put on a physical body to be the embodiment of wisdom to usher in his Bride, you got it, Lady Wisdom, the Church (1 Corinthians 1:30). Please understand that all knowledge and understanding are hidden in Christ, for he is the way, truth, and life, or…Wisdom (John 14:6).
Today decide to say “I do” to God and do everything possible to put on the armor of God to be part of the most incredible rescue mission of time, redeeming God’s Bride to live happily ever after. As shared in previous devotions in this series, the armor is meant to bring strength, stability, and encouragement as you rescue the “Lady in Distress.” We do so because we want to receive all that God has for us, personally and collectively, in the marriage of Life. The battle is real and can't be ignored — Next time, Spiritual Warfare and the Armor of God.
With understanding,
Pastor Drake
