Would you rather feel like a potato or look like a potato? This is an interesting question to ask, don't you think? A question that leads to our following command, "Ask, Seek, and Knock." Jesus said, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you (Matthew 7:7-8 [NIV]). If these words of Jesus are honored, it will open your life to all of God's resources where you experience His reality, now and for Eternity. God made people curious, so they will ask questions, even silly ones about potatoes, and seek out good sources to answer them via His Goodness. Goodness or excellency, where people get to step through the door of "Integrity," where an abundant life exists for everyone.
People often have difficulty asking questions because they feel they will look stupid or be judged. The reality, this may be true; nevertheless, we must have the courage to ask questions even with the threat of looking foolish. Emotionally, people who have a hard time with this command are, as the experts say, people pleasers. If this is you, it might be beneficial to ask more questions to free yourself from being a person who primarily lives to please people? Don't forget; you're a "people." When interest and curiosity awake, allow this to be the voice of God and ask questions. As they said in my Military Basic Training, there is no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid answers. Please understand there is too much to lose if we don't learn to "Ask, Seek, and Knock."
A stupid answer comes from a foolish source. Proverbs 18:2 says, "Fools find no pleasure in understanding, but delight themselves in airing their own opinion (NIV)." Don't forget as you're asking questions; you're also seeking good answers in your asking situation. It is helpful to recall our last two commands, "Judge Not" and "Don't Cast Your Pearls to Pigs." As you seek answers, make sure the person or source answering your question is a "Good" source. An excellent way to discern is, as Jesus implied, to ask yourself, "Are they about the Father's business, 'Goodness?'" "Are they teaching the morals of Jesus taught in the Gospels?" And "Do their results (not position, credentials, or licenses) speak for themselves? If it does, knock loudly on the door and walk through it.
Knocking represents actions, and when you knock on the "Good" door of opportunity by struggling through asking good questions and seeking proper answers, then all you have to do is decide to walk through it. The decision is yours to do so with others where all things work for God’s Glory, and you get to reap the benefits/blessings of being an obedient child of God. A position where you're best friends with Jesus because you utilize the Wonderfully Weird Command: Ask, Seek, and Knock.
With a curious heart,
